Do I really need a satellite receiver for every television in the house?

    It is no longer the case that you must have a receiver for every TV to have individual channel selection. Both satellite services now offer receivers which have two tuners built in and can give you true picture-in-picture capability or allow you to run a second TV (without an additional receiver) with independent programming. I find that this serves a third TV well when that TV is hardly ever watched, such as in a guest bedroom. This is not the end of it either. A company called Digeo is trying to come up with a satellite box which will serve a whole house. I believe that they currently have technology available only for cable. You can find them at Moxi.com

    Only if you want to watch different channels on the different televisions. : ) For each television that you want independent control over, you will need a satellite receiver. This is also the case with digital cable.

    Dish Network Satellite has a receiver called a DUO (dual tuner) receiver. These receivers service two-televisions; you can watch different programming on each TV at the same time. Some of these so called "whole house" solutions still require a receiver in each room--which can be costly. Your other option is to "mirror out" your programming using the TV2 tuner of the Dish Network duo receiver. This will save you additional monthly charges for extra receivers but will show the same programming in each mirrored out room. DishSatelliteSales.com
