Sort of. Every hockey-playing country knows of Canada. Otherwise, sorry to say, the rest of the world know very little about Canada, besides the fact that it's right next to the US. Most people don't even know its capital.

I personally think that Canada is well known because it's always been known as a peaceful and free country.

Three good reasons I can think of: Hockey, Rush and beer.
