  • Just until the indicator light goes out...varies, depending on the temp you are preheating to and on your oven's thermostat. Good question!
  • Depends on how hot you want it and on your particular oven.
  • What are you cooking, can I have some???
  • The reason behind the oven thermometor is ovens are often "off" in their temperature, the oven thermometor allows you to check the actual temperature of your oven and adjust accordingly. You only need to check once, then you will know what the difference is between what your temp setting is supposed to be and what it actually is. You might try giving your old one a cleaning so you can read it, or (if you have vision problems) have a family member or friend read it for you, that should give you an idea of what your oven temp actually is vs what your temp setting dial says you have set the oven for.
  • Depends on the temp you want it at. 350 is the basic temp about 3 min.
  • That totally depends on the size of your overn, and what your heat source is, if it is flame it will be faster than an element. so tally up the possibillieties and find your time
  • I'm pretty sure it varies from oven to oven and the cooking temperature your trying to achieve but ours usually is up to speed in about 15 minutes. BTW: That Red Snapper recipe sounds WONDERFUL!
  • that really depends on the oven.. and on the temperature. Mine has a little beep which tells me when it has achieved the desired temperature. You could use an oven thermometer, or use this simple test to see ifit has achieved the correct temperature: After preheating it, lay a sheet of plain white paper on the centre rack and leave it for five minutes. The paper's colour will tell you the oven's temperature: * pale biscuit, 150°C/300°F or less * light brown, 180°- 200°C/350°-400°F * golden brown, 200°- 230°C/400°-450°F * dark brown, 230°- 260°C/450°-500°F * black, over 260°C/500°F To determine the temperature in a wood-burning oven by the same method, let the fire burn for 20 minutes to preheat the oven.
  • The average time to preheat an oven to 350° is about 15 minutes, but the time varies depending on the stove. Older stoves may take longer to preheat; some newer stove models have a fast preheat feature. If you’re preheating to 450°, add another five minutes to the time. The only way to figure out how long it takes your oven to preheat is by testing it with an oven thermometer. Place the thermometer in the center of a rack set in the middle of the oven, then turn the oven to 350°. Set an oven timer, then check the temperature on the thermometer at 10 minutes, then again at 15 minutes.
  • I love my gas oven, but it takes a whopping 30 minutes to totally heat up...mmm but look what comes out....yum
  • It depends on the oven and what you will be baking. If it's just regular cooking, then 15-20 minutes is enough. If it's baking and you need precise temperature like for breads and some cakes, 30 minutes is a better time. And if you have a large oven it will take longer. I don't guess, I use temperature gauges in my ovens and let it go 5 minutes past that for best results.
