The centre section of a theater holds 10 seats in a row.The left section holds 3 seats in a row.right section holds 4 seats in a row.The centre has 5 more rows than each of the side sections. The total no.of seats is 390.How many rows are in each section.

    Let x be the number of rows on the L and R sides, because they have the same amount.

    3x + 4x + 10(x+5) = 390

    Explained:

    3 seats times x rows will give you the number of seats in the L side.

    4 seats times x rows will give you the number of seats in the R side.

    To get the center, you take 10 seats times the amount of rows it has, which is x+5 (Five more than the L or R side).

    So then: 3x + 4x + 10(x+5) = 390

    Combine like terms: 7x + 10(x+5) = 7x + 10x +50 = 17x + 50 = 390

    Subtract 50 on each side, then isolate the variable: 17x = 340

    17x/17 = 340/17

    x = 20

    So, the L and R side each have 20 rows and the center has (20+5)= 25.

    Check:

    3(20) + 4(20) + 10(25) = 390
