The brake light serves two purposes. One, it tells you if the parking brake is still applied and two, it tells you your brake fluid in the master cylinder is low. If you check the brake master cylinder, it is likely at or below the minimum level. If so, you add some.
As a secondary issue, one of the reasons the brake fluid goes low, aside from leaks, is your front brake pads may be wearing thin. It wouldn't hurt to check them since this is a safety issue. Even if they are not seriously thin, you at least know how much pad material you have left. Remember, you go by the thinnest of all the pads no matter how thick the rest are.

Everywhere rotors are called brake discs, except North America, why is that, as they do not rotate?

And if the park brake is off and the fluid is OK You have a serious brake problem. You should have a qualified person look at the brake system ASAP. **DO NOT** continue to drive the vehicle with the RED brake light on. The brakes may fail!
