If an Earth-bound asteroid had life on it, would it be wrong to destroy it, to save our planet from destruction?

Nope. They would all die when they smashed us anyways. We're going to die the old fashioned way, with pollution!

It's simple. Send a shuttle and get all intelligent beings onto it (there cannot be much since it's just an asteroid) and then blow it out.

in that particular scenario i would prefer someone to destroy it. i'm not even trying to witness an alien invasion at this time in my life

Yes, but if you acted fast you could get a jury together and convict the asteroid of a crime, and then sentence it to execution.

Is it wrong? no. Us or whatever grows on that rock? Kill it. blast that thing into tiny pieces or redirect it's course.

No. I would not sacrifice my loved ones for the lives of unknown lifeforms. What if they were evil? What then? You would have allowed destruction of all you knew and loved for an unknown species that might have been better off destroyed. I would not take that chance. :)

No. Any life on an asteroid would have to be pretty primitive (single-cell etc.) - do you think I would sacrifice my loved ones and the whole human race for a few microbes?
