It sounds like the receiver has gone in to the "protection" mode . this protects both reciever and the speaker from being damaged. a suggestion is to turn the volume up on the speakers , if this possible, and then turn the volume on the receiver up slowly until the desired volume is acquired. also the addition of a speaker selector box might help control the amount of static and/or noise, by not sending too much power to too few speakers or too little power to too many, both situations can do damage. big ant

NEVER begin any audio adjustment with the volume UP ! Begin with all the of the adjustments DOWN, and then adjust them to a comfortable level. It does sound like the amp is going into protection, or your "remote" signal is being affected by something. The side of the amp should have an indicator that tells you if the amp has gone into protection. Do not try to make any adjustments until you fix the short that is sending you into protection. You can't get around it, or try to just deal with it. Doing that will only result in aggrevation and eventually toasting your amp or blowing the speaker
