  • 'great minds think alike' is like many other sayings, true only when you want it to be. For example, two people think the same thing, they are friends, they use that saying. Two people who despise each other, but think the same, will not use that saying. Truly great minds are curious and questioning, hence all the debate :)
  • Well, you see, that saying means that someone only has a great mind if they think like I do. If they don't agree with me, then they obviously don't have a great mind. Of course, there are a lot of other people out there who think that the saying really refers to people who think like they do. I feel sorry for such people because they are obviously deluding themselves. At least those that disagree with me are. It is a very heavy burden that I bear in this respect, but I can handle it. ;-) BTW, if you really believe that I think this way, then I have some beach front property in Okalhoma to sell you.
  • Because in experiments there will always be small variations in results because of the environment that the test were done. So if you take two experiments that have the greatest amount of variations then theories,on the surface, seem to contradict themselves. Actually they don't.
  • The second part of that expession is "Fools seldom differ" Something that a lot more people should remember
  • Scientist reduce a problem to its smallest, testable components. They don't argue about the results of the experiment as much as they do the validity of the question or the interpretation of mixed results. Great minds take different routes towards the same destination. Some get side-tracked. They may think in a similar fashion, but they do not think the same thoughts! EDIT: If the theories are "in conflict", as the question states, the issue has not been resolved, and debate is called for to reach the implications of the conflict.
