It's how he was raised by his parents. Maybe his mom was a traditional housewife, and he thinks that that's the way it should be.
-
One of two reasons. Either he associates a "housewife" with his upbringing; i.e. you staying home and taking care of him and the house to his mother doing the same... there is a comfort level there OR he fills less challenged, more of a man so to speak by being the bread winner. Some men feel better about themselves as a "man" when they feel their girlfriend/spouse is dependant upon them.

Since when does a house wife not work? Maybe you mean he's employed and you're not. In any case you have to make him understand exactly how you feel about it - that is, if you want to have a proper job say so.

my wife isa house wife and she likes it- she was a doctor but now she works as a housewife- but shed prefer to be a doctor.

If you're sitting at home on your ass, that qualifies as a housewife.

I don't think it's neccesarrily being a "housewife" but being all did up in a dress and heels like in the old days is a bit enticing I must admit. He probably doesn't give a shit if you clean or anything. Just wants to come home to a stunning wife.

I've been a "house husband myself a time or two - and there's no big deal to it. Necessary work is necessary work and the one getting stuck cleaning up that day is the "housewife/househusband. It's more of what works for your home and family situation then a dramatic division of labor - if your household runs better that way then that's the way to go - my wife and I both work shit jobs and still raised a family resonably well in a somewhat clean and tidy hovel. Anyway - so he likes the "housewife idea" huh? That's nice - but how do YOU feel about that? If you have problems with it you better tell him right off & PDQ now, don't suffer in silence untill the day of the big bang and the roof comes off of the joint - and on the other hand - if your cool with it, then smile and take it in stride.
