I've been paying 42.00 per month for one for about six years & can't even remember what's in there. I keep saying every year that I'm going to go through it & get rid of this stuff or sell it(if it's worth anything)so I can quit paying the bill.

I have a rule ... IF I can get by without it for over ONE year ... then I don't need it . Then; I either SELL it or throw it out ... no matter what .... The ONLY exception is tools , as you never know when you will need a certain tool ... BUT: appliances and furniture , rugs, and the like ... have to go ... I even do the same with my shirts and pants etc ... if I don't wear them in a years time ; OUT they go ... otherwise; they are just taking up space.

Personally, I believe storage is a ripoff in most cases. If you keep the stuff there more than 3 months or so, you're usually past the break even point. I mean, you're not exactly desperate for it if it's just sitting there, right?

Well, I think so but I'm the frugal, minimalist one in the family. We've got a 10x10 space and it costs us $90/mo to store things. If I was the head of the household, I wouldn't have done it. It's just a waste of money but everyone else insists that their stuff is important. $90. That's almost two new videogames a month, a fancy dinner for the whole family at the fancy steakhouse down the street or a whole new outfit! By the end of one year, I could buy a huge flat screen HDTV!
