As long as she needs, dear. An employer who demands you return to work is at best insensitive. If you have enduring issues with grief, seek the aid of counselling, your local church ( any church ) should be able to help you. God bless, and peace to you.

Sending someone back to work is sometimes a good thing. We can get so self-absorbed SOMETIMES that we just get deeper and deeper into a miasma of the blues. Go back to work.

A guy I know couldn't get a day off for his grandfather's funeral; which was occuring at the mortuary he works for! They didn't even give him a few hours off just for the service, and these are people who you think care due to ads. The reality is, its a business.

As an employer I'd give you up to a month off, two weeks paid. I went back to work right away after my dad died. Everybody is different.
