That means nothing as there are natural things in meat that oxidize and change color when exposed to light and air. Give it a sniff and see if it is off, but you can't tell from the color.
The color means nothing. It's the smell that matters.
Meat IS brown. They make it look red in the plant & grocery store by adding gases to the packaging.
It has probably turned brown because it wasn't properly stored.Refrigerators through the process of removing heat from the box also remove moisture and will dry things up fast that aren't sealed air tight.
Yes it is ok, just means that the carmel color they put on it to make it red is fading Hamburger is really brown and they put the color into it.
i would be very careful of eating it. Smell it and if it has a sour odor i wouldn't eat it. it is possibly bad. check the date and if it is still in date , take it back to the store for a refund or replacement of the product
Different colors of beef are simply different forms of the same pigment, myoglobin, a chameleon-like chemical that can be purple, red or brown, depending on its environment.
myoglobin can also turn into brown metmyoglobin from too long an exposure to air. That's how meat left out too long gets "old."

You're reading When hamburger meat has been in the fridge for three days the outside begins to brown. What exactly does that mean? Is it okay to eat?
