Is it true that if a country that owed us alot of money, like China for example, nationalised their debt to us we would be totally bankrupt, and become like a 3rd world country?

huh? I really rather doubt it. Are you asking about a nation that we owe a lot of money to? Our federal government is more prone to borrowing from independent banks and lending institutions then it is from foriegn governments. And besides our government can always print more money, it would just cause a massive inflation.

No. If that were the case, US enemies would find a way to do so in an attempt to eliminate the US as a super power. Thankfully, the US already has the infrastructure to avoid 3rd world country living conditions. There are plenty of countries the US has forgiven of past war debts. I would hope that some would step up to the plate if such manipulation was ever attempted.
