Successful in what? Gangs - physically violent or menacing such that potential violence is perceived are just bullies and will display far more aggression when together than any of them would as individuals. Your hardest gang member may be leader of the pack when they are baying for blood as a gang but will cry like a baby and call for his mother if threatened alone. I am not sure where you think their success lies - are they successful in intimidating whole geographical areas, or in recruiting ever younger and more innocent members, in stealing from local shops and getting away with it, in displaying antisocial behaviours and committing petty crime? Oh yes, they are majorly successful in most of those - through intimidation and threats. Does that make them successful people? No, just a bunch of pathetic often sadistic bullies with nothing beter to do!

Are they successful.....? I think not really, but is does depend on what you think success is.....for me it’s being secure, owning a house, being happy in my life with friends and family close by and far away, aiding society.....think no gangs meet these.....

Because: 1) Not everyone is willing or even able to exact a given amount of violence on the drop of a hat. 2) Getting people to do something as a group is a lot harder than you'd think, even with a 'mob' mentality. That given, it's particularly hard for a group of people to exact violence for a given cause. But when they do, it's a hell of a thing. Now go start your crew, you nutty, nutty guy.
