I don't know if it is unusual . But I have my grandmother's red stoned necklace ..that bi...g one ...which people used to wear in the olden days . It was passed on to me when I got married ... I love that set ...but wearing them is altogether a different thing :)

My grandmother's diamond lavelier engagement necklace. She didn't get a ring, the necklace instead. It's just beautiful. I wore it at my wedding and at my son's wedding! It's one of my most prized possessions.

My father gave me a solid gold seagull on a chain, it's beautiful, and I still have it. He also gave me a shamrock stickpin that he got for me when he went to Ireland, the shamrock was made of Jade, but it was taken in a robbery.
