They say that if you breast feed your child till the age of 2 they get another dose of colostrum. I don't think the age of 2 is bad...but any older is getting weird. That would entirely depend on the circumstances. I nursed mine until just before her third birthday. I got some funny looks for it. She was having chemotherapy and I fully believe that was what kept her alive when she wouldn't eat anything else. Of course, if its being done just because the mom can't say no to her child, that is a whole different ballgame.

It depends upon the culture. Breastfeeding as late as 6 or 8 is quite common in underdeveloped countries. In the end, it is none of my business, but I can say I'd do more than raise my eyebrows if the child was 10 or older.

My honest opinion is I think it's a tad odd. But it's up to them what they do really isn't it.
