Absolutely, it is also beneficial to you in advancing at work, how people respond to your requests, or answers, and also lends weight to your credibility in general. It may not get you far when you hang out with the youth who tend to gravitate towards slang, but do you really want to be high on their popularity list? There is nothing wrong with being well spoken as long as you don't begin to critique others and correct them all the time.

You should train yourself to be able to operate in various parts of the society you live in, which means being able to adapt from being "well spoken" in more affluent/educated company, to being more down to earth amongst those who would feel spoken down to if you used perfect grammar.

It is an excellent thing to be well spoken. The spoken word is communication and to communicate your ideas, thoughts and opinion you need to have the best tools you can - your speech. You can always relax your speech habits to suit the situation and your companions but first you should have the ability to speak well.

Yes, but there is a time and a place to be "well spoken." Personally, I don't take it upon myself to be so articulate around those I know well.

yes it is, not only does it make what you say more credible but it also helps you get your point across more clearly
