  • You sped, you got caught, and there is no excuse, especially in a school zone. More inflated and larger radial tyres is just a pathetic excuse sorry. School zone speed limits are there for a reason, to protect kids.
  • I often speed. However if I get caught - I accept it. I only speed on motorways (not that that is any good excuse). 29mph in a 20 zone sounds dangerous to me. Of course it does depend on the time of day. But your attempted excuses are not going to make any difference. Over inflated tyres - no way is that going to cause 1 mph increase and that might get you in trouble for driving unsafely in some countries. If the tyres do have a larger radius, then was designed for your car (and therefore for your speedometer - in England that would get you in as much trouble as the speeding. As for I didnt want to slam on the brakes - you only need to apply the brakes lightly to decrease from 29 to 20mph. I think you should just take your punishment because any normal judge would find those excuses very lame. Sir Alex Ferguson got off over here for saying he had diarrhea and was desperate for the toilet. Medical excuses are always better than lame ones. If you are up before a judge, and he has leeway then they are more likely to be soft on you if you admit you were speeding and you sound genuinely sorry. Hgihlight how a ban etc would affect your life. If you have no remorse - then they will normally throw the book at you. In England the poings etc are normally fixed so the judge has little discretion. Going to court will often casue a more serious punishement rather than just agree out of court. However in Englsand if you go to court and the policeman does not turn up - you get off (I believe not 100% sure).
  • you should of thought about the speed at the top of the hill and slowed down without slamimg the brakes on later. school zones in wa are 40km/h, so you must have been going around 60km/h. that's unacceptable, in a school zone. why are you asking for help. brakes are there to be used. i would of thought the more inflated the tyre, the more it will pick up speed. i was taught that deflated tyres make a car sluggish, but i may be wrong on that point. the point is, you were in control, stay incontrol, don't blame the equipment.
  • This is the reason brakes are on automobiles. Pay the fine. School zones are strictly enforced. And, should be.
  • If you don't know how to control your speed on hills, either your vehicle is defective and should be impounded, or you are defective and should be fined.
  • Failure to control your vehicle, plain and simple.
  • Ignorance is no excuse for the law, You were the one in control of the vehicle, Modifications to the vehicle, Ie changing tire sizes etc. changes not only the way the vehicle handles but causes a variance in the reading of the speedometer. Just because everyone does it doesn't make it right and you are the one who got caught. Just have to make the best of it.
  • To slow down from 29 mph to 20 mph doesn't require you to SLAM on the brakes. A slow and steady depression of the brake pedal is all that would have been necessary to slow your vehicle down, especially on an INCLINE (which is UPhill, by the way). Face it, you thought you could speed and not get caught, but you didn't know there was a cop nearby. At the very least, you should be able to attend a SAFE DRIVING class and have some of the points removed from your license.
