I don't know if I would quite call it severe, but I was kick-boxing, and my sparring partner didn't tell me he had only one kidney! I knocked the wind out of him, and we stopped sparring, thinking nothing of it. When I saw his brother a week later, he told me that Dan was going to be released from the hospital in a few more days, and his kidney was going to recover. Oops.
