In England, the first flowers of the year are called snowdrops and they bloom in January or February :)

I have had crocuses as early as St. Patricks day but most of the sring flowers are April into May.

The snowdrops have been blooming for two or three weeks. The crocuses are beginning. The daffodils are blades of green two and three inches long: they will be out in a week or two. The Winter Jasmine is in flower as is the Vibernum, and the Forsythia is just starting to come out. Hooray! The Spring is starting.
