    Depends on your home theater and DirecTV receivers. We always connect the digital audio output (spdif) of the TV box to the receiver input. Depending on the receiver you can select the audio coding. Just select DD/DTS (5.1) and your golden. Also, you will want to at least use component video connections for a nice picture.
