Yes,and it was a seller on e-bay,but e-bay would not accept the responsibility of the seller. So I question buying anything off e-bay without assurances of receiving the product.I lost $500 because of e-bay and their relaxed polices.

Nope. But that may have something to do with the fact that I've never even been to the site! Can't get ripped off if you don't use it. (I have nothing against the site, I've just never bothered to go there.)

Yes, someone was advertising some CD's with templates and examples of ActionScript code etc.

I bought 4 CD's full of tutorials, but when they arrived it turned out that all they had done is downloaded lots of information from free online websites, burnt it onto a CD, and sold it on illegally.

    Crude.

My Mum once bought some wool on Ebay. It was advertised as normal wool, but it arrived in a tiny packet: it was a dolls-house accessory.

Yes and it sucked. A few time I got my money back but some times you can't and that's why they want all vendors to use Paypal it freezes their money if you file a claim as far as I know.

I'm mainly a buyer but have sold a few things.
eBay has never ripped me off but sellers have and eBay did nothing.

It's a really actual question, cause you have just a little protection of scams. But I was never ripped off by e-bay.

i have never been ripped either, and when you live up here in alaska, its cheaper to buy things on ebay even with shipping for me. i buy computer parts, games adn things like that alot cheaper than ever going to walmart here in town, im willing to wait a few days to get something...its really worth it to me.

    Yes many times!
*I purchased a computer from Ebay and believe or not the guy never sent it and Ebay never helped. *I also bought my daughter a dance dance revolution and received something else that was in chinese. I contacted them they claimed they ran out of them so they just sent something else! So needless to say after a year and a half...ebay was no help, paypal was no help, and the company was not going to help either!!!!

Nope. I have used it for 10+ years now, and never been ripped off. I have sold also, but have bought according to their stats, over 870 items. So far, so good.

Yes I have badly, I paid a direct bank transfer of nearly $800 for a computer Tower. As soon as the transfer was confirmed the guy was no longer a member of EBay. He is still trading under the email name that he used and EBay will give me no imformation on him. They say he is a good seller and I have had no dealing with him. My money went into his bank account and i wonder how many more people paid for the same Tower,
I know it was my own fault i should have insisted on Paypal but he seemed very genuine and his past history was ok

This guy was using two different accounts i am not sure i made that clear

I had a run-in with a gentleman who was selling some figurines under the false pretense that they were part of Todd McFarlane's Movie Maniacs series. I ordered a Freddy Vs. Jason boxed set of figures from him, thinking they were the genuine article since they were listed as "Movie Maniacs". I found out shortly after sending in the payment that they were NOT the McFarlane toys at all, but by another company called NECA. I emailed the seller and let him know that I would appreciate my money back and would he please, in the future, refrain from advertising his merchandise using the copyrighted name of another line of toys. He seemed to think it was perfectly okay to misrepresent the item in the listing, and he even told me that he put "Movie Maniacs" in so that his item would show up when someone searched for the REAL Movie Maniacs toys.

He sent me a refund right away, then about 3 weeks later he reported me for nonpayment on my order even though I HAD paid and he had returned the money to me. So I spent several MORE weeks trying to set the record straight so I didn't get negative marks against me. I finally got the negative points removed, and I haven't had any problems with any other sellers since then.

E-bay won’t rip you off. It’s the sellers that they protect that may rip you off.

    JAMMco... its complicated...

Never by Ebay, but almost by one of the sellers.

One tried to sell me a burn of a game after giving the impression that it was a legal copy. After I became suspicious and emailed the seller, he claimed them to be out of stock and cancelled the purchase.

Ebay has never directly ripped off anyone by any means other than their charges for listing items.

No, I have never been ripped off by Ebay, or by a seller on Ebay. Of course, I'm careful from whom I buy, and check the feedback before I bid.

I have been buying and selling on e-bay for 8 years, and have never been ripped off. Every transaction has gone smoothly. You have to treat ebay deals just like any other. If it sounds to good to be true, it usually is.

I thought they should be having some kind of competition to Ebay for Ebay is a monopoly, just like they filed Microsoft wasting time energy and money for purposes that serve no purpose - POJ

Not yet! Hope to never have that happen. I have been buying on eBay for a few years and have not had any bad experiences. I was not as impressed with one item as I thought I would be but it was what it said it was .. so no big complaints.

oh yeah. gotta be careful to check the item description, never buy name brand, and insist on insurance when the item is shipped.
