I don't believe so , or they wouldn't all be huddling over the subway grate and consantly pooping on my balcony!

The band tailed pigeons migrate. However, there are other types that do not. Either way, their need to migrate is relative to food supply.

The pigeons near me don't. They stay around all the year. In fact they're nesting at the moment.

I live in Philly, Pa., and the pigeons in my neighborhood have disappeared a couple of weeks ago. I don't see any dead birds anywhere. We had a least 50 birds flying around the whole 2 blocks and now they are gone. I have no idea where they went. I've lived here for two years and its really strange...

If they do would someone tell the London pigeons cos Im fed up of them!

No, they are more or less stay where they are at the whole year as long as their is food for them. I would not be surprised though if some fly more southern for winter where they may get more food. Different species of pigeons are different.

Not any that I am aware of. I had a flock of pidgeons visit my yard everyday during the winter. I live in Nova Scotia, Canada and it gets pretty cold here during the winter. They were roosting under a bridge just down the road from my home. Although pigeons are ground feeders I have seen as many as four get on my feeder at the same time. They are actually very interesting to watch however, they can be very messy if in large flocks.

My "tenants," a lovely couple living atop my air-conditioner under the roof overhang, are frantically trying to hang on right now in gusting winds and 28-degree weather. They've had 2 babies this year, and love to engage in pigeon foreplay and then "do it" on my window-sill. I watched the babies grow up, and then witnessed their flying lessons and first takeoff.... fascinating!
