  • Those are caused by magnetic interference. If you have any magnets or speakers near there, move them away. Also, if the effect does not immediatly disappear after moving the object away, look through the monitor's menu/user manual for a degauss feature. This will make a loud thunk your monitor will wibble, but it should sort out any residual effects.
  • I know this sounds overly simple, but I once had the same problem with a computer monitor, and it turned out to be a speaker sitting too close to the screen. This is only likely on a crt monitor however. Just a thought.
  • What kind of monitor do you have. Does it have a degauss option or button when you look at the features like color, etc? Sometimes it is because something magnetic has been placed too close and has disrupted it. Sometimes speakers that are not designed to be next to a television are not shielded and since a speaker has a magnet on the back of it (inside) if an unshielded speaker is placed close to a monitor, it can cause this discoloration.
