How do you get your freshly potty trained toddler to "make poo poo" in "the potty"?!?! My son is doing great with the "pee pee" part and wears "big boy underwear" now, but everyday he poops in his underwear and doesnt seem to grasp it!!

my stepdad had to make my brother wave good by to his #2 it worked like a charm, but bro felt like he made the poopy so it was his. hope this helps

i had it similar my boy always wanted to have his nappy back on to do a "yucky" (he calls it that way). have you tried (I know the professionals say you shouldn't start potty train and giving treats), but only for #2 on the potty. tell him he will get a treat if he goes on the potty for #2. if he goes at a regular time or you can see him starting to strain, strip him of all trousers and underwear and show him the treat. the treat has to be special and small (like 2 jelly babies or jelly tots) that he only gets when he goes for a #2 on the potty. And praise him for the first few times. (after wiping)pick him up and have a little "potty Dance" and cuddle, tell him how good he is for using the potty. i will warn you be prepared for a few accidents but he may catch on. it worked very well for me and after a couple of months i weened my son off the treats (the potty dance only lasted 2 weeks) though he does get a treat here and there.

It just takes time, I'm afraid. Every child is different, and no child gets it perfectly when they are newly trained. Be patient, reward the good behavior and keep his diaper OFF when you think he might have to go. That way he will feel compelled to go to the toilet to complete his business.
