It is possible your emotional state is affecting your appetite, if you had a physical problem it is possible that the symptoms would not vary so much. I would still see a doctor to rule anything out though. I went through a very difficult time, and no matter how hungry I was, as soon as I smelled food I couldn't eat more than a few bites, and I ended up losing over 15 kilos in 8-9 months (which wasn't a problem as I had excess to lose at the time). I have since gotten the appetite back, but whenever I am stressed I cannot eat (which causes cyclical weight gain & loss in my case).
