Does anyone else believe that Lord of the Flies is an obvious microcosm reflecting world war II, or perhaps human nature in general?

I believe it to be a good example of the human psyche, where it's undeniable that opposite attitudes will arise, even within people living in similar situations. Rich and Poor, Black and White, Good versus evil e.t.c. For every opinion, there is another, so every man will have his enemy.

I think it is a dark exploration of the human psyche. I think that it focuses on mob mentality and what happens when there are no rules and said mob mentality is allowed to take over. It is trying to show one result of the breakdown of society and its laws.
