  • Honestly No. I myself am fat and i am perfectly fine with walking. Handicapped is for those who are really handicapped.
  • If it is just fat then no, they should not; only if their fat is a symptom of a disease or a reaction to treatment should it be allowed.
  • No, as long as he/she can walk without harming himself/herself health.
  • No. It does help to walk. And with the obesity problem in the US, there will be no handicap parking slots for he people that really need them.
  • Until the doctor says otherwise.............
  • i think we can allow obese people to use handicapped parking, look it must be terrible to be obese and i dont think the use of handicapped parking will motivate anyone to pick up weight.
  • In my opinion, yes. I think being morbidly obese is a sickness, sometimes physical and sometimes mental. I have no problems with it being treated as such. I think that many people get jealous because they can't park there themselves.
  • is this your question :"can fat ass person given hadicap privelege" . i say no. The person should walk and reduce his FAT.
  • That's a very good question. I think that people who are morbidly obese are just as handicapped as others with what we would call "more warranted" problems. I feel like it is rewarding them to give a handicap parking status, but that is very unfair of me. No one would CHOOSE to be so obese that they need this status, even if their behavior is what caused it. So I guess yes, people who are morbidly obese (for instance, if they use a motorized chair to get around) SHOULD have handicap parking access.
  • None of the non-handicapped people had anything to do with the others being handicapped so why should they be punished by relinquishing a parking spot to the those that claim to be handicapped!
  • I have a Texas "Disabled American Veteran" license plate on my Harley-Davidson motorcycle. I love it when someone says anything to me about using a handicapped parking space. I always respond with, "Oh goodie! What do I get to do, have my right leg back, or be rid of the cancer?" : )
  • With some people it's not always obvious what their handicap is.
  • NO, NO and NO!!!!! I know so many people with those blue little tags and every one of them does not deserve nor need it. That just PISSES ME OFF. Lazy gits!
  • And you can tell by looking? When you can tell there are no hidden issues, like asthma, heart conditions, joint problems, etc... then you can judge. Until then, leave it to the doctors and quit worrying about it.
  • Your question presupposes the handicapped parking laws are currently being used in a prudent and ethical manner. That set of laws is so badly misused, what harm could adding a few more abusers possibly incur?
  • The only problem with it is when they really (and genuinely) don't need the sticker - if there is absolutely nothing else wrong with them, I mean. If you get winded just walking through a parking lot, you could probably use the exercise. Not only that, there are other people out there who ARE handicapped. When my boyfriend broke his foot (for example) there were plenty of times where we had to park across the parking lot because someone who could walk perfectly well decided to park in the one handicapped space - and he had to crutch all the way across the parking lot, even when it was icy and dangerous. Just an example.
  • simply being obese would not justify handicapped status...however, the effects of it would...bad knees, bad back, heart and breathing problems, blood pressure, etc....so you'd have to define "able to walk"..."able to walk" what distance and at what risks? i kind of think you would use the same igorance to judge me and my mother if you saw us out...just looking at my mother, you probably wouldn't immediately notice anything was wrong...my mother has advanced parkinson's, has had the DBS surgery and does well with her medicine...some days my mother can walk from a handicap spot to the electric cart with supervision...on a bad day, she won't/can't leave the house...so even on a good day, if she had to walk a distance across the parking lot just to get to the cart, she'd be too exhausted to even hold herself up on the cart...she doesn't drive anymore and i don't care who gives me dirty looks when i get out of the car after parking in a handicapped spot and run to the store to get a cart and bring it to her. she's my mom and i don't really care what some insensitive baffoon thinks. as long as she has her handicapped parking hang tag, we will go whenever she wants to.
