1997 merc sable. i can not get the caliper piston to retract back into the caliper. therefore i can not get it off the rotor. it is the passenger side rear brakes. any ideas

Did U release the "Parking Brake" & try opening the "Bleed Screw"??? John

It takes a special tool to move those back. Look at the head of the piston and se if ther are two knot like bumps. The tool is cheap and the auto parts place might have one th loan. You have totwis that piston back in. If it is not made like that then releae your emergency brake and then open the top to your master cylinder to allow pressure to escape.
