What are the freshest apples available at grocery stores currently during the regional off-season? a lot of apples from the grocery stores grown in washinton state or someplace else are mushy and or bruised a percentage of the time. i like sweeter apples.

    Red Delicious apples are still good and crisp here in Michigan, as are Granny Smiths, but the Granny's are more tart than sweet.

    I very seldom uy apples for the reason you state. Once they have been stored for a long time they turn mushy. But I find Fuji apples pretty good anytime I have bought them. They seem to keep their crispness/
