Absolutely. As the end consumer of the pillow, mattress, etc. you can do anything you want with it. The tag is while it is in the distribution mode of it's life. If I sold it to you, I would be hunted down by the mattress police and flogged if I removed it. But once you own it, have as much fun as you want. The same type of law exists for reflectors on new bicycles. As the seller of the bikes, I cannot remove them. The consumer has to. And then they might want to be careful. Local and state laws do exist in some areas requiring that they remain on the bike.

The tag is there for the buyers information only. After its sold, the tag can legally be removed. Most people do not remove the tag, simply because they do not understand that particular law.
