I use all 3 because I produce websites and each browser has it's +'s and -'s. # Internet Explorer works best with most websites on the net, but it has the worst features. # Opera is fantastic all round; it is simple, fast and feature rich. # But Firefox is customisable like no other. What do you want from your web-browser? :-) ---------- Note: Netscape has a browser too: http://browser.netscape.com/ns8/

I personally prefer FireFox. It seems more stable to me. I have used it on several computers.

Novice users who don't know much about computer / network security (or security conscious users)should probably use Firefox. Use IE only if you always get updates as soon as they come out and are satisfied with your computer's security measures (ie, firewall, anti-spyware, anti-virus, port security, anti-trojan). For help with browser or computer-security related issues, i reccomend CastleCops http://www.castlecops.com .

I use Internet Explorer for the browser but for looking ANYTHING up, I use google. I go with what uses the least amount of memory. I have an OLD processor in my puter, I hate the SLOW method..(Waiting 20 mins for a screen to pop up)...OH and if you have your firewall turned ON through your internet settings you'll never get anywhere anyways. TURN IT OFF just leave your pop-up blocker on...

I really am not keen on the new look of IE, I must admit. I'm getting used to it, but it's still not as intuitive for me as others. Plus, the security seems to be overdone on this - I know you can change the settings, but even so... We use Firefox at uni, and I can understand why others do like it, however it annoys the hell out of me when you have to wait 5 seconds looking at an orange box whilst it loads up. It's not long, but every

I like Maxthon myself. It's based on IE so you get the lovely page rendering but it crashes a lot less and has a lot more features. (If I ever go back to a browser without mouse gestures I'll take me twice the time to navigate the web). I tried firefox back in 1.5 but it wasn't anywhere near good enough for general use (obvious options missing, poor selection of skins, that sort of thing). Looking at the popular stuff on the website though it looks like it may be improving and might be worth trying again soon (I've heard rumours that 3.0 is coming).

This is an extreme point of contention. However, my personal preference is Opera. I began using it right after the release of Version 5 and haven't looked back since. Opera is small. In a small 3.6MB installer, you get a full featured brower with extras, you get a mail client, you get an rss reader. It has everything. Opera also comes with some of the more basic features that you would need a firefox extension to get, such as mouse gestures and ad-blocking. However, opera does require a bit of patience to set up and get used to. A little known fact is that some of the greatest features that are now taken for granted in browsers came from opera, such as tabbed browsing (long before firefox). But the biggest reason that I use Opera is because it just plain feels slick. Firefox and IE just feel slow and clunky, especially when using the forward and back buttons (And mouse gestures in firefox feel clumsy and slow). Firefox is a great browser, and has many great extensions to make it even better... but I prefer the speed and simplicity of Opera. I do, however, use firefox when developing websites because it does have some great extensions for debugging.

I'd have to say that the most unbiased answer I could offer is - it depends on your personal taste. Each browser has its good and bad points for usability, security, reliability, memory use, customization, appearance, portability, and speed. You really need to try them out for yourself and decide which one you like. Now, all that unbiased-ness aside, I currently use Firefox, but I am going to give Opera another shot on my laptop, having read the recent recommendations of others.

I've never been a big fan of IE. I used Netscape back in the day, then I switched to FireFox, now I'm using SeaMonkey which is Mozilla's new project. It's just like FireFox with a few extra features and it has an html editor built in like Netscape does.

Firefox, definitely. IE has been screwing up and is terribly slow on my computer. It's so much easier I think too. (But then again, I'm used to it.)
-
firefox from me. Got a virus/malware I believe using opera IE only good for using sites that require it. also IE and opera seems to be slow on my dialup connection however IE at least seems to be optimized for broadband connections and no-way to customize the max connections, etc.. like firefox.... Altho I pick firefox, I would def. pick and am using firefox portable.. :)

Internet Explorer 7...

Mozilla Firefox. It's fast, it's free and it's easy! Internet Explorer collects too much junk/cookies/internet files so I use Mozilla Firefox. The only downside is, there are few websites that must be used by IE in order to open it, so it's still good to have IE.
-
IE7 and Firefox. I tried using Firefox exclusively for a while but I found too many pages where things didnt display right, and/or required an IE-specific plugin. Plus Firefox seems to drag and get sluggish after a while.
-
IE7

Mozilla Firefox all the way! It has less bugs than Internet Explorer and it had the tab idea long before too!

I use both IE and Firefox. Since IE is really the standard out there, everything's designed for it, so many of the network devices etc that I connect to require IE. I use Firefox for answerbag and other types of browsing.
-
Firefox mostly.. its good and reliable.. some of my work stuff requires IE though, which sucks...
-
Fire Fox because some people on here recommended it.

Firefox and it's sidekick, Thunderbird

FireFox. Pop-up block AND web page ad-blocking make it for me.

Wow, is there some kinda link between us? I was just going to post, "What's your favorite browser- Firefox, IE, Opera, or other?" when AB xref'd me to this thread. Anyway, I prefer Mozilla Firefox over IE but they both (IIRC) seem to freeze up when trying to load web pages with lots of animated imagery.
