Why do gothic and emo people wear black?

Goth and emo people, as groups, can't even agree on why they wear black....much less what exactly defines a 'goth' or an 'emo'. However, the ultimate reason they wear black is because they are trying to make their own statement and be different. Just like jocks wear letter jackets everywhere, cheerleaders wear their outfits to the mall, tough guys wear leather and/or wallets with chains on them, like hippies grew their hair long in the sisties, like guys started getting their ears pierced in the 80's... Different...just like everybody else. How different can you get than that?

Ha, I wear black on the outside because thats how I feel in the inside,!!! I think because it complements their skin tone best??
