  • No, you can not. You can only have one at a time otherwise they will both collide and thus causing it not to function at all. I've tried it many times. And it won't happen
  • It's not recommended. Most will conflict with each other and slow your computer down, or prevent it from booting at all. There generally is no improvement in security by having multiple.
  • I would strongly recommend against it, especially on an older system (if applicable). They will step on each others' toes, and sure, you'll be safer...but it will be because your system is hanging and you can't do anything that would potentially put it in jeopardy. Conflicts between AV softwares are some of the most common causes of computer problems (at least, in my experience).
  • Yes you can, but they would kind of 'attack' each other and cause your pc a lot of problems. it isn't recommended.
  • I was running norton and mcAfee for some time together, they ran fine. But the system was a bit slower overall. I don't think there is a good enough reason to warrant 2 antivirus software.
  • This will not clean up viruses, but it will clean a lot of unwanted junk off of your hard drive, http://www.ccleaner.com/ It is a free tool. I use it.
  • You can have them on your computer but as others have noticed it's generally not recommended at have more than one running at once. That only applies to two anti-virus programs though. anti-other programs (anti-spyware, anti-trojan etc.) are usually designed to be run with a virus checker and each other.
  • you can run infinite numbers of anitivrus softwares on your computer thatis if you want your comp. to go KABOOM. but yes you should atleast have 2 or 3 of them runnong together because the databases of all of them are not the same hence more data more protection.i will advice you to run avg free ,avast home and mc afee together but mind it dont use norton
  • As others have said, it's not a good idea to run more than one anti-virus program at the same time, nor is it necessary. The symptoms you would see from conflicts depends on the programs you have installed. Anti-spyware is another story. Most folks use a combination of Spybot Search & Destroy and Ad-Aware. This next statement is often the cause of lengthy arguments, but Security suites like those from Norton and McAfee have a tendency of slowing computer systems down all by themselves.
  • Yes you can and I have on my PC , it is not recommended so i have disabled a lot of them and put them on a second hard drive if i want them at any time. The conflict between various anti virus programmes can cause a problem to your PC
  • I've sort of been curious about this question myself, i dont know much but what i do know is that a friend of mine had downloaded two AV softwares on the same laptop and, it's pretty much dead.
  • They can cause each other to give false readings, you should only have one.
  • you should only have one. if you have 2 and one of the finds a virus and puts it into quarintine then you scan with the other one, it will find the virus in the first anti virus's quarintine and they will conflict with eachother and will slow your computer down to a snail's pace.
  • My computer people tell me it slows the system down.
  • how to check if there're two mutiple antivirus on the computer, because i'm in this situation now, lots lots of errors pop up, and i can't stop it. is there anyone can help me? please send a simple way to figure out, otherwise please give every single step of checking it, i'm not good at computer....
  • Hey yes. As of 1/1/2009 I've done it successfully for @ 2years w/o any problems or special adjustments/config on my XPpro unit.It depends on what you choose.I don't mind sharing with you that one of the products I use is my free subscription to Mcafee. Also bare in mind remnants of old norton uninstalls seem to have a tendency for being the source of some of my pains.I have not noticed much difference in performance but then again I'm pretty good about keeping my babies tuned up. Have fun. Good luck. Don't forget to make backups.
