  • sure. and its the banks fault they left all that money with the teller's for me to rob too. they should have known i couldnt resist
  • You just have to love the logic, eh?
  • They're illegal immigrants. Hence, their worthless opinions don't warrant further consideration by anyone. If they actually went through the process of entering the USA legally, then I'd happily afford them the legal rights and respect that would be due, but they shouldn't expect to crash a good party and drink their fill without paying the cover charge.
  • So I guess it will be ok if I rob a bank since society has left me broke. I'll bet that will fly with a judge. She has already become an good American by blaming someone else for her actions.
  • I don't blame the Mexicans for coming here to better their lives. I do, however, understand their frustrations with trying to come here legally. The bueracracy is pretty thick when you try to do it the right way. I honestly see both sides (Although i do not agree with the woman who claims it is our fault they break our laws)
  • When in Rome, do as the Romans do. When I was in the Navy, I was considered an American Ambassador by my Commanding Officer with respect to my conduct in whatever country we made a port call in. This meant that my behavior was a direct reflection of my country to everybody in the country we were visiting. As such, ANY behavior which put my command and my country to shame was more than a little frowned upon. Those who forgot, or chose NOT to adhere to that policy, soon found out what it was like to be restricted to the ship for a month or two at a time. And perhaps lose part of their pay, too. And the restriction DIDN'T end when we got home...it ended when the Captain said it ended. If he put you on 30 days restriction and we were back in our home port a week later...you didn't go home for another twenty three days. When you are in a foreign country, legal or otherwise, you are subject to THEIR laws and customs. Learn them and live them...or suffer the consequences for YOUR actions. What do I think? I think this lady can suck the heat out of my *ss if she were to pull something like that with me. Grow up, take responsibility for your own actions, and quit blaming others.
  • This is probably the Number One sore subject for me. I grew up with a town loaded with immigrants...LEGAL immigrants...mostly from Italy and Poland...who were more American than us Americans, ourselves. They did more to teach us what it was like to be an American than any other source, I think. They couldn't wait to become citizens of the U.S. It was during the Second World War...and nearly every home on every street had AMERICAN flags flying from the porches. Back then, in order for an immigrant to enter the U.S., he/she had to have a "sponsor", who would attest to the worthiness of such...had to bring a skill and/or a means of self-support. The sponsor was responsible for seeing to it that the immigrant remained a valued resident. The first generation struggled with the language...but they nonetheless gave it their best shot. They demanded their children learn English in school and by assimilating with the American kids...and, in turn, the children would bring it home and help teach Mom and Dad. I'm not certain when it changed --somewhere in the 70's or 80's-- but every non-citizen resident had to "register" their resident whereabouts EACH AND EVERY January. If you even thought of breaking our laws, you could be picked up in the middle of the night and taken to the next flight back to where your came from. Legally admitted immigrants, who respected our laws and way of life, were an extremely important asset to our Nation. As to the wife who made her remark to you, I can understand where she's coming from. When the highest leader in the land pushes legislation that would virtually forgive those who have disrepected us, who have broken our laws the minute they stepped across our border and nothing was done to halt it, thereby inviting even more of the same, then it is understandable that such an inappropriate rationalization was spoken. I never expected that from President Bush...and I lost a huge amount of respect for him, and the minions, for his having done so.
  • It's true that some of our laws concerning immigration and such are a little ridiculous and difficult to get anything done by, but like someone else said, saying that it's our fault they made the wrong choice is like saying that since I was born to a poor family, I have the right to rob banks.
