You're reading My brother turned 18 last year, made $3,900.00 and lived with me the entire year. If I claim him on my taxes, does he still need to do his own?

I think you misunderstood the question or I did! I think the person is asking if his brother still needs to file a tax return.
And if brother was NOT a full time student, then sister can NOT claim him as gross income was over $3500.

gorss income for filing is $5350 which is the standard deduction for a single person. BUT IRS says if you are not a full time student and make more than $3500 in taxable income, you can not be a dependent on anyone's tax return (except your own!). Sucky, but them's the rules!
