Not really. I don't think 'scare' is the right word. Submission is correct, but you're either using it in the wrong context or the church is selling the wrong message. The message should be submitting to a loving God and receiving grace. But basically, it comes down to Option A or Option B. Churches are marketing Option A - the Heaven/ Eternal Salvation/ be with God forever plan. They want you to believe it to AVOID Option B, the Hell/Fire/Brimstone/Lake of Fire plan. Schools show car wreck films to teenagers in order to get them to wear seat belts or to drive sober and we call that education. In fact, the education liberals say "if we can just save ONE life it'll be worth it." But if religion does the same thing and says "if we can just save one soul it'll be worth it," you call those tactics 'scaring into submission'. It's a little unfair, don't you think?
