I'd like to address a few points. First, no version of absinthe, European or otherwise, contains wood alcohol (isopropyl alcohol). That common misconception comes from the ignorance of what wormwood is. Wormwood is a plant that is used to flavor most brands of absinthe. Second, the quality of some of the American brands is much higher than most of the European varieties. There's a distillery in California that makes some great stuff, but I can't remember the name :(. Lastly, There are NO psychoactive effects of ANY absinthe. That's a myth. Drinking too much of it will give you a hangover, not shut down your kidneys, as some have suggested. I hope this has been informative.
