  • Yes, I think so 7-8 hours of school time that they have everyday they probably know enough of it. Culture is probably not more important than politics because politics is what keeps people going.
  • Are you kidding? my 32 year old neighbor does not even know where the state of Georgia is located. One day i asked her this question and she said that Georgia is located somewhere near the Canadian border and its color purple! Color purple? where did that come from? If children are not being taught the location of each state in the united states, how do you think they will master politics or culture? I agree, this was probably an isolated incident, but it just goes to show that it may not be. Yes, more culture and politics should be taught in schools. but, lets make sure the students know where they are first, so they can vote in the right state.
  • Nope, we aren't taught that. I think that the teachers are in denial. I mean, that sounds weird, but we were talking about if we had seen any racism or bigotry on campus or in town and the teacher refused to believe it... I wish we would learn about it though, I think I'd like it a lot. It's pretty hard to find sub-culture books in any of the libraries in town too. :(
  • No. Especially not enough culture because in order to understand a country's politics you have to understand it's culture and history.
