Ironic, considering that phrase originated in England. About the U.S.? That we're all a bunch of gun happy itchy trigger finger rednecks.

Misconceptions? I really don't understand the question. In France, for example, if you were to say, "It's raining cats and dogs", then a French person wouldn't udnerstand what you are talking about. They have a different way of saying, "it's raining". With different countries, the phrases and languages are more different. Different countries have their own way of saying "it's raining."

It is raining like the dickens here also.

not a misperception of of a turn of phrase per se but my gf is from korea and before she first came here 17 years ago she thought everyone ate steak every day, lived in big giant penthouses and lived like they do on tv...because her only concept of the US was what she got from television...when she got here she was somewhat disapointed to find out there wasn't subways all over the US, good mass trans and people were not all living in penthouses and such because most of America does not look like NY or LA!

Yes. That everyone in the US is rich. Sorry, but even by third world standards some us aren't rich. All Muslims are terrorists is another misconception.

THE FRAZE= ITS RAINING CATS AND DOGS MEANS THE RAIN IS COMING DOWN HARD AND FAST NO MATTER WHAT COUNTRY AN AMERICAN IS WHEN THEY SAY IT.
