A whore is a person of either gender who accepts money, goods or services for having sex.

Other than the other factual answers here of the exchange of sex and money lol, I also think that a whore (as well as 'slut') is someone (note: someone, not just a woman!) who sleeps with someone or multiple people without giving a damn to the consequences. ie: knowingly sleeping with people who are already committed to someone else, not caring about protection (std or pregnancy), etc.
