There are a lot more black people in America than any other country (not counting Africa). Proportionally it causes more racism.

The history of slavery and the the subsequent denial of civil rights denied to blacks after their emancipation. The US was one of the last colonial powers to abolish slavery and the only one that needed a war to end it. The civil rights movement was seen by people all over the world as it occurred at the dawn of the age of media. The Ku Klux Klan is synonymous with the US and more notorious than other hate-groups. Racism occurs in all countries, but to different degrees, in the UK and Denmark spectators at a football/soccer matches will throw bananas and hoot like monkeys at African players. This could never happen in America. In Japan, some establishments will have signs that read "No non-Japanese allowed". In the US any place forbidding entry because of race/ethnicity would have their pants sued off.
