Nebuchadnezzar. The three boys were Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. Three of the entities seen in the fire of the furnace were supposedly these three (who were placed in the furnace for refusing idolatry). The fourth figure appeared in the flames after the three young men had already been put into the furnace. Some say it was an angel. Some say it was Jesus. The book of the Bible in which this story is told is Daniel.

along with Daniel, these 3 were young Jewish captives...they were of Jewish royal famililies from the tribe of Judah(Jesus lineage)...under the Babylonian king, Nebuuchadnezzar...Neb. put them under a training ,in the Chaldean language and literature, for a period of 3 yrs. Yet they would not bow down or serve to Idol Worship ..they stood for God..this is a favorite..... Neb. saw 4 in fire with 3 boys but when he told them to come out (unharmed) only the 3 did!!! Daniel, Shadrach,Meshach,&Abednego...never lost sight of God....but Daniel was an important Prophet , his dreams were "foreshadows" of what was to come...
