This is an update on my son....

He was hit while riding his bike on his way to his driving theory test. I'm not sure of all the ins and outs relating to the accident, suffice to say that the w@nk@r drove off without even checking to see if he was ok.

My son 'escaped' with a broken wrist, ruptured spleen and cuts and grazes. He is still in hospital at the moment but I will keep you all updated.

Thanks for all your concern and well wishes.

    Dave (Pompey)

ps...without asking for points because my son is far more important to me than points, please try to help to keep this answer top so that the updates are easy to find. Many thanks

My answer will undoubtedly reflect just how far I have come on my spiritual journey in this arena. I would hate them with every fiber of my being. I would have to choke back the desire to beat the living shit out of them and I would probably lose that battle. The mere thought of it is enough to leave me shaking with anger.

I wish better for you than that, My friend. Do you have insurance, by chance?

Wow, Pompey. I would want to hunt the b*stard down and kill him... literally.

My first thing would, of course, be to make be with my son. Then, I fear, I would do what I could to make what I said above a reality if I could do it without going to jail myself. I know that I would not be able to find him but, if there was any chance, I would.

How is your son doing right now? How are you doing?

When I was younger, my reaction would have been pure anger, with a desire for revenge.

I admit, since I have aged, I have "mellowed", believing that that driver was seen by the One to whom I will be speaking on your son's behalf and yours, as well as your family's, as I lay my head on the pillow this very night.

You may never know the justice, Dave...but I believe it will be meted out, one way or the other. That's just my belief. It sustains me from suffering the all to frequent pains of injustice. It may not serve your needs sufficiently, and such is understandable. I do not seek to impose my personal beliefs on anyone else...just how I handle things.

Well, I will refrain from using profanity to tell you what I think of the driver. I hope they find him and jail him soon. Obviously, someone with no conscience of any kind.
Please keep us updated on how your son is doing. He will be in our thoughts.

First off sorry to hear about your son, was this a recent event and how's he doing now?
Second, has the driver's conscience caught up on him yet or is it still an unsolved case?
I ask because a lot of times the flight or fight instinct kicks in - in these situations and people do flee. A lot of them do hand themselves in within a short time and admit to what happened and why they ran.
If it's been more than a week and this person is still happy to carry on and not face up to what s/he did then they are heartless ba****ds and I hope they're caught and punished severely not so much for the hitting part but for the hiding, anyone can have an accident make a mistake, but for running and hiding but those who won't admit to it in these cases are (borderline) psychopaths. They need jail time and rehab but punishment first and severe at that.
Oh and if was one of my sons I'd have a lot of hatred for that driver and I would like to inflict some injuries on them.

I'm so sorry to hear about your son! I read the updates though and am glad to hear he is doing well. I wish him and speedy recovery.
In reference to your question: I would be absolutely furious at the driver. I would probably call the police everyday until they found the person who did it.

I have been ther my daughter was 12 at the time and we had just got back from vacation the day before, she was on her way to Mc Donalds, she was crossing at the corner and an old man with through a red light. She flew about 15 feet and cradled her head in her arms.....at the time all I could think about was her (Thank god that all was ok...lots of bruises, scrapes and sore..but nothing more)...as time passes and still to this day...regardless of his age I would love to get my hands on him.

My prayers and hopes are with you, your family and your son.

I'm sorry to hear about your son and I'm hoping he recovers fully from his injuries.
I would be very upset and I would ask my lawyer to have this criminal prosecuted to the full extent of the law. I would hope his driver's license would be revoked.

I don't know how I would feel because I think only a parent could know. It is a horrible thing to happen Anger would be there. But I hope that I could concentrate my focus would be on caring for my son/daughter and hoping witnesses come forward and that the police can convict.

I hope you and your family are okay Dave and that your son has a good recovery. My thoughts are with you.

... a hit is a common enough accident and is easy enough for me to just shrug off and forgive, depending on exact circumstances and IF it actually was an accident ... but RUN after hitting and attempting to get away with it, is inexcusable conduct and should be thoroughly investigated and eventually punished with an absolute maximum sentence, with not even a hint of leniency ...

You don't even want to know what I would be thinking at first but after everything calmed down and my son recovered I would just care about my child and forgive the person who did it because holding onto hate only harms yourself. As I have written many times, forgiveness is not for the other person, it is for yourself. Karma will take care of the other person.

Good to hear your son is ok now Dave. I hope you find the guy who did this and take him to the cleaners. I can't believe the coward didn't even stop.

I was going mad when somebody hit my car and drove away without leaving a note or anything and my car was parked and empty at the time.

Hope your son gets better. At first frustation and disbelief would kick in. ( How can anybody hit someone and just leave?) No body who is driving expects to hit someone. The driver probably panic and at that moment is not thinking clearly. He or she is probably hurting inside wondering if the person he/she hit is okay. I say forgive the driver he/she is probably hurting inside.
