  • ...I am assuming it's because people rely on television for a main source of entertainment, and information via news channels and whatnot. There are other ways, but people just find the tv to be the easiest route, and quicker to do than anything else. I'm sure America isn't the only place, with today's technology. I mean, obviously, you have a computer, it's not like you are disconnected with the world, so really it isn't a big deal. =P
  • because it is not considered a "norm" to not own a tv. usually every american owns at least 1 tv, and half of america is based off of tv
  • Because they are sheeple. We got rid of all but one TV in the house and watch only recorded programming without ads or rented DVDs. It's wonderful. We have more time to eat together. Play games. Ride our bikes around the neighborhood and live connected lives. It was harder to get going in the morning or motivate ourselves to have conversations or be physically active when the tv was going. It's an idiot box that turns people into fat, lay abouts who can't speak in complete sentences. Turn the thing off!
