I think checking sites like this would probably be your best bet. There's an 800 number you can call to ask questions: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Travel-g154962-c9963/Newfoundland-And-Labrador:Canada:Tourist.Board.Info.html http://www.newfoundlandlabrador.com/#

Assuming you are from the US: Don't bring a lot of cash with you. You'd have to exchange it for Canadian dollars anyhow (yes, they have a different currency in Canada). Do bring a bank ATM card and take out cash as you need it. You'll get the best exchange rates that way. Definitely check tripadvisor. Tripadvisor has been my primary travel site for some time: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Tourism-g154962-Newfoundland_and_Labrador-Vacations.html As for the passport, yes, you will need one. Get it now, do not wait. You might want to look into staying at hostels. At hostels you can make your own food and meet other budget travelers. While most hostel stayers will be around your age, I've met people of all ages in hostels. http://www.hostels.com/ca.nf.html Before you go, pick up a travel guide from your local bookstore or Amazon. Good luck and have fun. Send us a postcard.
