  • Not necessarily. If you are unemployed through no fault of your own, then in most states you would owe nothing during that unemployment. However, if you are unemployed by choice, the court will order support in an amount it deems you could be making.
  • Here in New Zealand the minimum amount of child support if $773pa, that's NZ$14.85 per week (shared between all children), and is payable even if on unemployment benefit. (NZ$14.85 is approx US$8 per week *bites her tongue as to what you can do with that sort of money*
