yes you can you can be both of those at the same time you can be used over and over again as you always are looking for someone to love you but seem to attract the wrong people everytime that treat you very badly not just physically but mentally i am at the stage now where i prefer to be alone with my 2 girls as i can never trust again some people deal with it differently to others i love my girls but i could never fully trust a man

Absolutely. After being through something so traumatic, a long term effect could certainly be wanting to steer clear of relationships with men. Hopefully with some competent, compassionate professional help this can be overcome.

The effects of abuse affect us all in many different ways. I could see why a woman that was abused would not want to trust a man enough to have a relationship. People who are abused deal with some powerful emotions. Anger, fear, and distrust are just a few feelings that survivors of abuse deal with. I would advise you to seek some counseling. I think, with some help, it is quite possible to work through your past. What happened to you, should not be allowed to interfere with your pleasure of experiencing a, non-abusive normal, relationship with a good man. Good luck to you.
