  • my "Financing Retail Installment Contract". After driving the vehicle for two weeks and awaiting my plates and registration to arrive, the Manager calls me and states that my down payment is missing and I need to go back to the dealer and give him another $2,000.00 dollars cash or my paperwork will not be submitted and I wont get my plates and registration. I have temporary tags on my car but the tags are about to expire and the dealer refuses to submit the paperwork. What can I do to have the dealership submit my paperwork so that I can get my plates and begin to pay off the car ? I already have insurance for the car but I’m confused, does the vehicle belong to me or to the dealership??? Thanks in advance for your help.
  • I hope you have a receipt or some proof that you paid the $2000. It sounds as though somewhere between the salesman and the company, the money disappeared. If you can show proof that you paid the $2000 then it is the auto dealers problem. I would take my receipt to the dealership and prove I had paid. It is up to him to discover where you money went. If he still refuses to submit your paperwork, I would contact your state's Attorney General for help. Something is very wrong.
  • Please finish your question. You ran out of space.
  • Tell us exactly what is written on your receipt from the dealership. If the money is stated as a down payment and they accepted it, your receipt is gold. Ask the dealer to call the police and make a report. If he declines, its possible a theft has occured. You may need to contact an attorney. If all of what you have stated is true, its the dealers responsibility....not yours. Its their loss. Two weeks? it took the dealer two weeks to discover your down payment missing? I smell deception.
