i dont think any of the usual otc diet pills do anything to suppress your hunger but look for an ingredient called Hoodia, Hoodia has been used by african tribes for hundreds of years, its a type of root that they eat before going on hunts, generally these tribesmen are out hunting for days or weeks at a time and once they spear the animal they have to track it for days before finding it dead so suppressing their hunger and not having to caqrry or stop for food during the hunt is of great help to them.

Don't the myriad of available caffeine-laced OTC pills do the trick?

OTC diet pill can supresses appetite , but unfortunately there is no enough data about its efficacy , safety , long term use .....etc.

so, it is much more better when any body feels that he/she is in need to use diet pill to control appetite or for weight loss . should use an FDA anti-obesity products after counselling a specialized dr in the field of obesity management as now obesity is considered a MAJOR epidemic problem by WHO

Short answer: No, not for very long, anyway.

Long answer: Any OTC diet pill will have either caffeine or ephedra (or whatever the new whiz bang plant stimulant is). Both of these stimulants are mild enough to be OTC, but that also means that people quickly build up a tolerance to them. Ephedra based diet pills become dangerous when people decide that the tolerance is bad, so they begin taking more and more of them. At a certain point, even though you don't feel the "rush", your body is still under the stress of the stimulant. A couple of highly publicized sports deaths recently have been traced back to ephedra supplements.

Exercise suppress your appetite. It's sweaty, but it works.
